- Public viewing areas such as sports bars, bus terminals, train stations, movie theaters, etc.
- Education environment such as K~12, community colleges, universities classrooms and on-line learning courses.
- People who use English as a second language.
- People who are hard of hearing or deaf.
There are practical reasons. Put simply, captioned videos reach more people, wins much higher viewership.
